Do you spend time looking for information?

October 24, 2011

Agility’s new Search finds all your Stuff. Nothing can hide from Agility’s quick and easy, new search functionality. Object Data, Word documents, Excel Spreadsheets, information inside AutoCAD or Microstation drawings, PDF files, etc. Any document can become searchable with Data2saves Agility. Naturally, all search results respect the assigned authorized, user rights of the specific user logged-in at the time of the search. (Information not intended for the User stays hidden from that User)

Subsequent to the presentation of the results, the User can filter the results by a few clicks to find the information in a refined, narrowed down search. When the information has been found, one click will open the workflow and the information will be visible.

Documents, Drawings, etc. are automatically indexed by Agility’s search engine and the information inside the documents and drawings becomes searchable. In fact, you can put your filing cabinet in the trash bin because you can now manage documentation such as: Manuals, drawings, invoices, purchase orders, recall notifications, pictures, permits and licenses.

Super fast

Agility’s Cloud search engine is super fast and results are presented, on average, in less than 1.5 seconds

Reduce your carbon footprint with Data2save’s Agility

April 22, 2011

By using Data2save’s leading edge Software, you can reduce your Carbon footprint. Our servers are in Green datacenters and the setup of the servers also further reduces your Carbon footprint.

Virtualization

At Data2save we virtualize all our servers. This means that we are green because, instead of  installing 10 individual servers, we use one server and virtualize 10 servers on this one server. Typically a server runs 10-13% utilization, since we virtualize the servers we max out the utilization. In addition, our servers are New, – never older than 12 months, because new servers run at 93% or 92% efficiency while older servers run at 55% to 85% efficiency. Therefore we instantly save 15% to 45% on power consumption for the base server. And instead of running 10 x a750watt power supplies we run  1x a 950Watt power supply so we save 6550Watt /Hour.

Network Attached Storage

We use network attached storage devices with a single 6 disk device, only using 150 watts, while with 10 servers, we would  have used 10×4 hard drive (RAID) and each hard drive will use 10-13 watts that is for all the servers 520 watts so here we also save another 370watt per hour and

Virtualizing 10 servers onto one server allowed Data2save to save 6.92Kw/Hour.

Cooling

10 real servers each produce a lot of heat for every kilowatt of load; each rack in the datacenter requires 100 to 125 cubic feet of cool air per minute, so since we save 6.92 Kilowatts we only require 130 cubic feet of cool air per minute instead of 865 cubic feet of cool air per minute.

Emotions need cooling when people discuss global warming and Scientist’s have come out with opinions on both sides. We have fossil fuels because dinosaurs lived in Arctic areas that were once tropical lands so we know that the climate has been changing thought the ages.

Scientist’s did not start recording temperatures until the turn of the century and the Weather channel can’t even predict my weather a month in advance so I fail to understand how they think that they could predict the future.

Put aside the lunacy of people claiming to tell us the precise temperature of planet Earth in 1918 based on tree rings, or the fact that in the ’70s liberals were issuing similarly dire warnings about “global cooling’.

Simply consider what we can do to help the planet by conservation and limiting our “carbon footprints” “Blog Action Day“, is a move to discuss how we can do our part to reduce our use of fossil fuel.

The “Cap and Trade” Bill has been accused of being a “Cap & Tax” Bill that will penalize developed nations by taxing them but will not help global warming because countries like China, India, Brazil and other developing nations will simply continue creating pollution. Whatever happens, Data2 save customers will be well equipped to meet the challenges of changing laws because they will have their data well documented.

Carbon Footprint

By utilizing Data2save Agility for your workflows and data needs you are not only saving money and trees, but also reducing your carbon footprint. Data2save continues to look for methods to utilize our servers to the full 100% and to make them work more efficient.

Conditional Formatting to make your reports more readable

April 19, 2011

One of the most exciting new features in our latest version of Agility is the “Conditional Formatting” option. This formatting is the capability to define the appearance properties for a report  to make the report easier to read by making the important data more prominent. The element in a report will be applied if a certain condition is met. In other words, this feature allows you to change the appearance. It does this by auto-changing the readability and visibility of report elements that satisfy a specific condition. Agility’s Report designer can be used to manage, customize and apply formatting rules for your conditional formatting.

The following image shows an example of an implementation of “Conditional formatting” - the data rows are highlighted if the current driver’s license on record has expired (or will soon expire). This is just one example from our HR configuration. The possibilities are endless for you and your team to see and focus on current criteria.  You can customize your reports to apply the rules that you need.

Data2save Agility Conditional FormattingA Formatting Rule includes a set of formatting properties along with the logical condition that determines when this formatting should be applied to a control.

Formatting Editor

To create Formatting Rules, we have included a Formatting Rules Editor. The editor also allows you to define a logical condition, when met, will be applied. This editor allows you to easily define a Boolean expression to be met for a formatting rule to be applied.

In the Condition Editor, numerous functions are supported, allowing you to easily perform different string, date-time, logical and math operations over data.

Apple's iPad has found solid ground in the professional world. When we visits our customers, we see more and more iPads’ in corporate Executives hands. The Data2save Agility Dashboard can be loaded on to your iPad to check your project information and status. This crucial information is displayed in real-time on your iPad. The “Dashboard” is optimized for Tablet PC use, similar to the iPad and it will connect to the Data2save servers both in 3G and Wi-Fi mode. You use the same log-in credentials that you use to access Agility, and then you will see all the information displayed on the screen.

Data2save Agility Dashboard on the Apple iPad

This will  help you to have more efficiently executed projects, and will improve your competitive position.

On the first screen you will see an overview of all the projects you have access to. The information is presented in a dashboard format, there are also two indication lights, one for “Actions” and one for checking the “Status”. The Status light will turn red when there is a task waiting in one of your projects, if it is running past the scheduled time. To see which task is running into overtime, just click on the Status light and you will see a list of all the projects with a traffic light in front of them.

Traffic lights indicate:

  • Green - Everything is OK
  • Yellow - There are tasks in the project which are still running on schedule, but the amount indicates it will not be finished on-time without extra effort
  • Red - There are tasks in the project which are running - overtime.

Once you click on the traffic light, Agility will navigate to the Gantt-chart to show you the tasks.

You can access the Agility dashboard on; iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, Android Phones and WP7 phones and of course on the PC and Mac.

One Engineering Company told us that they have managed to complete a timely, project for the first time, thanks to our easy to use Dashboard.

Building Relationships with easy “DRAG and DROP”

December 20, 2010

One of our hot new features in Agility is the “Drag and Drop” relation-ship function. In the previous version of Agility you have to navigate through the tree structure to build relationships with other records. E.g. add a maintenance record to a Pump. Today we made it possible for you to find the maintenance records that you need, then drag and drop them from the result area (displayed on the right) in to the tree structure. Agility will automatically create the appropriate link and built the relationship between the records.

Data2save recently created 1000’s of relationship Links. Previously this task would have taken several hours to accomplish  With this new feature we finished this task in only 10 minutes! This will be a great time saver for Agility users.

How do you get this Feature?

This feature is immediately available to all Agility users. The next time you start Agility, the system will check if you have everything on your computer to use this new feature. If you don’t have the latest version of Agility. The software will automatically download, so you can take advantage of this new feature immediately.

New features in AGILITY: Login Restrictions

November 24, 2010

A good way to protect your data is to restrict login to those IP addresses that you specifically approve. By default, any authorized user can connect from any IP address (from any internet connection). When you select an IP range, users can then, only connect from networks that have been given permission to connect.  Login IP Ranges are configured on a company-wide level Exemptions can be made on an individual user level by your system administrator. IP ranges can be entered in either IPv4 or IPv6 (or a combination). You can also allow or restrict access for specific countries.

Data2save Agility IP Restrictions Settings

These features are now available in your Agility, login by your administrator whom will go to the “User Management” tab.

Data2save Agility IP restrictions Button

Click on “Access Filters”  and you can set the companywide filters. To set exemptions for individual users you go to the user list and then select “click” on your right mouse button to select access filters from the list.

Compare two revisions of your datasheet with Agility

November 22, 2010

One of the new features available in Agility, is that you can compare two revisions of a datasheet, and see the differences highlighted in yellow. Data2save Agility will automatically store each revision of a datasheet for as long as you choose to save it. So you do not have to print two revisions anymore and compare them by hand, Agility can do that job right there at your request and provide you with the comparison in a split of a second. If you want to compare the latest version of your datasheet against a revision from 5 years ago, Agility will show and highlight the differences right there on your screen. This feature can save you a lot of time, and you can make better informed decisions based on this clear data by selecting the revisions that you want to compare.

compare button

How does it work?

You just open a datasheet in Agility and on the top in the menu ribbon you will find the compare button. When you click on this button, the compare dialog box appears and you can set the two revisions you want to compare. You then follow the instructions by clicking on the compare button. The list with all the data fields will appear automatically, and on the left side you will find the data from the first selected revision and on the right side the data from the second selected revision (Side by side for easy comparison) the differences will be visibly highlighted in yellow.

Compare select revisions

One of our customers has found this feature particularly useful to compare their original datasheet with the datasheet filled in or modified by their Vendor using the Agility Vendor Data collection Tool.  They don’t guess what the changes may be anymore, because they can ask Agility to highlight the changes.

E-mail and surfing to Websites direct from Agility

October 13, 2009

In our ongoing quest to make Agility more efficient, we added a helpful feature. When you enter a website or an e-mail address in a field, Agility will automatically recognize this as an e-mail address or a URL for a website. The result will be 3 dots(…) at the right side of the fields (see image). When you click on these three dots your preferred e-mail client or web browser will start with the e-mail filled in or with the web site you selected.

What about my existing Forms?

As with every new feature in Agility, this feature will be available to you immediately. You do not have to take any action to take advantage of this new feature. All the forms which have e-mail addresses or websites stored, will show the three dots at the end. When you click on these dots your e-mail client or browser will start.

Format requirements:

Specific format is required in each field for Agility to recognize the content as a e-mail or a website.

Valid e-mail address should be typed in the same manner as you would normally type it, when you send an email to that recipient. Each website should have http:// in front of the website, for this function to work, e.g.: www.data2save.com should be typed as http://www.data2save.com
